Save the Animals
    Save the World

We now have a very limited supply of bumper stickers that read: Save the Animals, Save the World. We thought an explanation of how we came up with this slogan might be in order.

Have you ever noticed that most everyone has a soft spot for animals? Haven’t we all seen that even some people who may have difficulty relating to humans can cuddle up with an animal like it was their first born child? Who can pass up petting a puppy or a kitten, or feeding a hungry animal.

This compassion seems, at least to us, to be the hope for the world’s survival. Now what do we mean when we make this statement?

If we all care about the survival of animals, are we not really caring about our own survival?

To ensure the survival of animals, we must protect our environment so that the animal has a place to live in their native habitat in the wild. We must also ensure that their water supply is safe for them to drink, so pollution of our waterways and oceans cannot be allowed. And then of course we have air pollution, which is an issue if we’re going to protect our animals.

Now add in a food supply that we must protect so that our animals can survive.

I think you’ll see by now where we’re going. If we protect our environment, keep our sources of water clean, limit and control air pollution, keep other animals in the food chain healthy, are we not really ensuring our own survival, since we have almost the same needs as animals.

Maybe, just maybe there is hope for our planet if we do take care of our animals. Just thought this was something to be thinking about. After all, if the animals of the world can’t survive how can we expect to.
